Gorilla Biscuits Auckland NZ – Kings Arms

It’s been long-overdue, but Gorilla Biscuits made it to New Zealand – and It’s been totally worth the 30 year wait.

It’s not often that we get the pleasure of a visit from one of the most influential New York hardore punk bands.

The one time only NZ visit comes as part of a five –date Australasian tour, which will also cover Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

The show was supported by local acts Superior Vision, Wizz Kids & Lookin Up.

The set started off strong with New Direction, and covered some crowed favorites such as High Hopes and Sitting Around at Home.

Lead singer Anthony Civarelli oozes continual passion, showing some heart for the future world that we live in, perpetrating a respectable consciousness for the environment & planet. This is a message that needs to be spoken more often – Cats and Dogs was a reminder to show compassion to all living things.

It was fascinating to see the level of energy dispersed by the old time band. This was reciprocated from bogan and punk alike. There were definitely a few oldies in the crowed, but all I can say is that when I’m 40 I hope that’s me.

Whilst some crowed members may have been too drunk to remember a thing, it would be fair to say true followers got what they came for, which will go down in the memory books forever. To our fellow cousins across the ditch, you’re in for a treat!

Civarelli, was sure to point out the rarities of New Zealand, specially mentioning the blessed country that we live in, nature, water falls, rivers and people. Let’s keep it a secret.
