Hot off the heels of the worldwide box office blockbuster and award-winning movie “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Queen has taken this opportune timing to set their live touring wheels in motion. Dubbed as the ‘The Rhapsody Tour’, Queen’s original members Brian May and Roger Taylor enlisted flamboyant powerhouse singer Adam Lambert to take on lead vocal duties. Queen + Adam Lambert will rock you as they return to New Zealand in February 2020 for 3 giant stadium shows. Slated to run from February 5 to February 10, 2020, this epic 3-day tour will be their first ever concerts in Wellington and Dunedin and their auspicious return to Auckland. The tour dates are as follows:
Wednesday 5 February Wellington Westpac Stadium
Friday 7 February Auckland Mt Smart Stadium
Monday 10 February Dunedin Forsyth Barr Stadium
Queen drummer Roger Taylor has sent over waves of excitement to Kiwi fans as he exclaims: "We are ready for New Zealand and raring to get back with our new show.” Lead guitarist Brian May further adds: “This is a great opportunity. Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever and got us our best notices ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious! Watch out, New Zealand! "
The Rhapsody Tour boasts of a ‘brand-new larger-than-life production’. Adam Lambert says: “We have been designing a brand new visual spectacle that will reframe these iconic songs and we are excited to unveil it! We are excited to reveal the show to New Zealand fans!”
Ever since the biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” hit the silver screens, it brought a revival of interest on the life, times, and the music of Freddie Mercury and Queen. Queen was back on the charts, hitting the No. 1 spot again on Billboard’s Artist 100 Chart. Music chart authorities and the press has declared ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ as officially the world’s most-streamed song from the 20th Century, and in New Zealand, the band scored its highest-charting album in 24 years with the Platinum-selling Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack.
The movie also brought in a surge of new generation of fans who saw from the film that Queen’s unique kind of magic is best experienced live, and the crowd will definitely get jolts of energy to get on their feet, pump their fists, clap their hands, and perhaps also do some vocal calisthenics as they join in the giant sing-along of anthemic hits like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "We Will Rock You", "Radio Gaga", "Another One Bites The Dust", "We Are the Champions", "Killer Queen", "Fat Bottomed Girls", and a whole lot more!
Since 2012, American Idol finalist Adam Lambert has stepped-in for an honorary assignment, as the lead vocalist of Queen while on tour. Lambert is well aware that he has big shoes to fill in, but his awesome talent and exuberant showmanship holds up his uniqueness as a performer and still manages to evoke nostalgic and exhilarating emotions that pay homage to the illustrious brilliance and artistry of the late Freddie Mercury.
As Freddie Mercury once sang and prophesied with the lines of ‘The Show Must Go On’, Queen was never one to rest on their laurels and sit on their thrones. They’re killer Queen! They have never stopped commanding and slayin’ the live stage with their greatest hits.

Finally! The highly-anticipated “WorldWired Tour” from Metallica is bound for New Zealand, and are set to play at Auckland's Mount Smart Stadium on October 31, 2019. Amplifying to the intensity of excitement is special guests Slipknot.
Metallica will first begin in Australia to play five shows prior to closing out their ‘down under’ tour here in New Zealand. This will be the first time in six years since Metallica played in Australia, and the first time in nine years since their last show in New Zealand held in Christchurch at the CBS Canterbury Arena on September 21, 2010.
The nine-year drought was shaken up recently with a number of clues dropped by drummer Lars Ulrich, raising hopes that indeed Metallica will be making it to New Zealand. Thankfully our sources proved to be true.
And nothing else matters for Metallica’s biggest and most devoted fans who engaged in relentless pursuits, hoping to get the band’s and concert promoters’ attention.
A young 13 year old fan championed ‘operation: bring-Metallica-back-to-New-Zealand’ a 13-year-old super fan named William Bush who launched a campaign calling Metallica fans to sign a petition via change.org. The young lad collected over 7,000 signatures, and his efforts were definitely not in vain. As Metallica confirmed the New Zealand tour date, the country’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern herself, surprised Bush with two free tickets to the concert as a gesture of thanks for helping pave the way in making this much-awaited dream concert become a reality.
Metallica are still reeling from the success of their massive U.S. tour, and impending European, Asian and South American tour dates. Metallica has expressed that they are thrilled to set foot and shake the ground down under.
“This trip represents another new adventure for us during the WorldWired tour,” stated Metallica. “It will be the first time we have ever headlined stadiums in Australia and New Zealand. To help us celebrate, our friends in Slipknot will be joining us for the journey.” - Consequenceofsound.net
Rolling Stone magazine has ranked Metallica at no. 61 on its 100 Greatest Artists of All Time list. Their illustrious career spans over three decades and are recognized as one of the pillars and stalwarts of the thrash metal movement. Their formidable body of work became the blueprint for the evolution in sound of the next generation of metal bands
Metallica’s discography encompasses fifteen albums to date, ten of which are studio recordings, along with four live albums, and one cover album; plus five EPs, 37 singles and 39 music videos. Brace yourselves, Alice In Chains is headed towards Auckland, New Zealand for their much-awaited concert tour. They’re all set to unleash the dark forces of grunge and metal rock at The Trusts Arena stage on Thursday, 7th March 2019, 7:30 pm.
Still reeling in from the release of their sixth studio album in a career spanning 29 years, and their first album release in over five years, “Rainier Fog” puts Alice in Chain back in the map. Fans have given the album a double thumbs-up. Music critics and the press gave it glowing reviews, and proceeded by a Grammy nomination for Best Rock album, to boot.
With the fans’ excruciating wait after a five-year album release drought, “Rainier Fog” truly did not disappoint.
Kerrang! writes: “it’s prime Alice In Chains and the work of a band still managing to hit new peaks of their powers.”
(The album) “boasts undeniable energy and rhythm,” says Uproxx.
Loudwire and Q Magazine were all praises the band for “still making music that holds up to their legacy”; and “juggling power and poignancy like masters.”, respectively.
The new album harks back to Alice in Chains’ gloomy roots with the speed of metal, that in a way, sets them apart from other bands from the grunge movement. The album shot up the Billboard charts, hitting the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Rock, Alternative and Hard Music Charts, as well as No. 1 on the iTunes Rock Album Chart.
With their astonishing career run with over 30 million albums sold, multiplatinum certifications, multiple award nominations and citations, and a multitude of diehard fans all over the world, Alice In Chains has gone full circle. Founder and lead guitarist Jerry Cantrell explains:
“We’ve been doing this a long time and this band exists in two different eras...To continue on and still be relevant; to operate the same way we always did before and for the same reasons, which are to make the best music and the best records we can possibly make; and to make ourselves happy, well … it’s nice.”
This will be the first time and the first show Alice In Chains will be playing in Auckland, calling it as their "New Zealand debut". Hence, Auckland fans have all the valid reasons to go louder than loud. Don’t miss it!
