Sex Pistols Featuring Frank Carter 2025 Details, Tickets & More
If there is any act that evokes the popular spirit of punk rock to this day, it is surely Sex Pistols. The English band wasn’t responsible for the invention of punk rock, and nor were they the first representatives of the notorious genre to write and record. But in a spell of barely two and a half years in the 1970s, they helped transform punk into an international phenomenon.
That had been the decade of prog and soft rock, at least until the powerful, sneering vocals and pointed lyrics of Johnny Rotten came onto the scene. It is fair to say that most people’s notions of what rock frontmen should look and sound like have never been the same since.
While the Londoners only ultimately put out one studio album – 1977’s Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols – it was more than enough to book the places of Rotten, the late Sid Vicious, and their bandmates in rock history.
Fast-forward to 1996, and Rotten reunited with founding members Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock for a successful tour, which included New Zealand. They hadn’t returned to Aotearoa ever since then… well, until now.

While Rotten won’t be participating in the latest tour, Jones, Cook and Matlock will be. They will be accompanied by fellow punk legend and Pistols fan Frank Carter, who joined the original bandmembers to perform the entirety of Never Mind the Bollocks in the UK last year.
It is this very performance that will be repeated in a run of shows across Australia and New Zealand this spring. It’ll all begin at Auckland Town Hall on 2nd April, followed by Christchurch the next day. Then, the Pistols will hop across the Tasman Sea to grace stages in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, and Brisbane, wrapping up at Fremantle Prison on the 11th.
Needless to say, given the rarity of the punk outfit’s visits to NZ, we expect brisk demand for tickets – so we’d urge you to take your chance.

There is no onsite parking at Christchurch Town Hall. There are, however, several public car parks, and a drop-off zone in front of the building on Kilmore Street, which is a one-way street.
It is not permitted to bring alcohol into the venue. Snacks and beverages are available from the bars at the venue, and there are various cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby for a more substantial meal.
