Dead Kennedys Give Me Dystopia or Give Me Death Tour 2025 Details, Tickets & More
The American punk rock icons Dead Kennedys may have been vigorously challenging the status quo for almost half a century now – since their formation in San Francisco in 1978 – but they haven’t finished rustling feathers just yet.
In fact, this September sees them return to Kiwi shores as part of their first tour for seven years. When they take to the stage at The Powerstation in Auckland, they’re sure to exhibit fresh slices of the raw energy and sharp social commentary that have long been central elements of their identities as performers.
Higher-than-high intensity continues to come as standard at a Dead Kennedys gig. Accordingly, new and returning fans alike can expect the band’s upcoming NZ show to feature a wealth of classics, with “Holiday in Cambodia”, “California Über Alles”, and “Kill the Poor” complemented by a selection of lesser-heard tracks and fan favourites.
The band’s present iteration consists of original members East Bay Ray on guitar and Klaus Flouride on bass and backing vocals, together with lead vocalist Ron “Skip” Greer and drummer Steve Wilson. Greer has fronted the group since 2008, replacing Jeff Penalty, while Wilson stepped in several years ago after the passing of long-serving drummer D. H. Peligro.
Listen To Dead Kennedys’ ‘Holiday in Cambodia’
As unfiltered and unapologetic in their lyrical content as they are in their overall sound, Dead Kennedys continue to impart satirical messages that feel as relevant and urgent today as they did at the point of release.
It isn’t very often that these legends show up in Aotearoa to perform their uncompromising and politically charged anthems direct and in-person to their fans. So, you really won’t want to miss this rare show.
