Metallica’s WorldWired Tour with Slipknot All Set For New Zealand

Metallica WorldWired Tour poster New Zealand

Finally!  The highly-anticipated “WorldWired Tour” from Metallica is bound for New Zealand, and are set to play at Auckland's Mount Smart Stadium on October 31, 2019. Amplifying to the intensity of excitement is special guests Slipknot.

Metallica will first begin in Australia to play five shows prior to closing out their ‘down under’ tour here in New Zealand.  This will be the first time in six years since Metallica played in Australia, and the first time in nine years since their last show in New Zealand held in Christchurch at the CBS Canterbury Arena on September 21, 2010.

The nine-year drought  was shaken up recently with a number of clues dropped by drummer Lars Ulrich, raising hopes that indeed Metallica will be making it to New Zealand. Thankfully our sources proved  to be true.

Metallica live in New Zealand

And nothing else matters for Metallica’s biggest and most devoted fans who engaged in relentless pursuits, hoping to get the band’s and concert promoters’ attention.

A young 13 year old fan championed ‘operation: bring-Metallica-back-to-New-Zealand’ a 13-year-old super fan named William Bush who launched a campaign calling Metallica fans to sign a petition via change.org.  The young lad collected over 7,000 signatures, and his efforts were definitely not in vain. As Metallica confirmed the New Zealand tour date, the country’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern herself,  surprised Bush with two free tickets to the concert as a gesture of thanks for helping pave the way in making this much-awaited dream concert become a reality.

Metallica are still reeling from the success of their massive U.S. tour, and impending European, Asian and South American tour dates. Metallica has expressed that they are thrilled to set foot and shake the ground down under.

“This trip represents another new adventure for us during the WorldWired tour,” stated Metallica. “It will be the first time we have ever headlined stadiums in Australia and New Zealand. To help us celebrate, our friends in Slipknot will be joining us for the journey.” - Consequenceofsound.net

Rolling Stone magazine has ranked Metallica at no. 61 on its 100 Greatest Artists of All Time list.  Their illustrious career spans over three decades and are recognized as one of the pillars and stalwarts of the thrash metal movement.   Their formidable body of work became the blueprint for the evolution in sound of the next generation of metal bands

Metallica’s discography encompasses fifteen albums to date, ten of which are studio recordings, along with four live albums, and one cover album; plus five EPs, 37 singles and 39 music videos. With sales of over 125 million albums worldwide, these releases have spawned mammoth chart-toppers such as “Enter Sandman,” One,” “Master of Puppets,” “Seek and Destroy,” and a whole lot more.   The band has collected 9 Grammys out of 23 nominations, and scooped-up three MTV VMA awards.
